Dear students, parents and guardians:
As mentioned below, a Fentanyl Awareness Day is scheduled Thursday so students can learn about the dangers of Fentanyl and other opioids. Forms were sent home last week with all of the students. Anyone who does not want their child to participate needs to sign and return the form to the office.
Below are a few of the upcoming events:
After school tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays has begun for students needing help with math and reading. Anyone interested in receiving extra help should let their student’s teacher or Mr. Whitner know.
Fentanyl Awareness Day will be Thursday, October 23rd . The sixth through eighth grade students will visit the exhibits that afternoon during school. A follow-up Family Engagement night is scheduled for that afternoon from 6:00 to 8:00 for sixth through twelfth grade students and their families.
The girls and boys middle school basketball teams play Central Tuesday, October 28th , Eastside on Tuesday, November 4th , J.I. Burton on Monday, November 10th and Union on Thursday, November 13th .
The 5th grade students have a trip planned for Wednesday, October 29th , to Camp Jacob.
Ridgeview Middle School will have a Halloween Literacy Day on Friday, October 31st . Each grade level is focusing on reading events with a Halloween theme. Some of the grade level students will rotate through classrooms on their floor to get a different reading experience in each class. Students will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes that are within the dress code, but no Halloween masks or look-a-like weapons are allowed.
Schools are closed Monday and Tuesday, November 3rd and 4th , for Election Day.
A Veteran’s Day program is scheduled at 9:15 on Tuesday, November 11th .
Our next PTO meeting is Thursday, November 13th , at 5:00. We encourage everyone to attend.
Schools are closed from November 24th through November 30th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Schools will resume on Monday, December 1st .
Reminder: all students coming to watch home middle school, JV or varsity ballgames have to either ride the bus home or be picked up by the parent. Supervision is not provided for students after school, so students are not allowed to stay after school.
Thank you,
John R. Whitner
