Dear students, parents and guardians:

We are in the final weeks of the RMS March Madness Attendance Challenge, with a school goal of 90% for the month of March. This week, we are down to the Final Four homerooms with the best attendance in their brackets. The winning homeroom gets a reward trip to Abingdon on Wednesday, April 16th. All homerooms that have 90% or above attendance will also have their rooms put in a drawing for ice cream and pizza parties.

Below are a few of the planned upcoming events in April.

Report cards are scheduled to go home tomorrow, April 1st.

April is Autism Awareness month and April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. Everyone is asked to wear blue on Wednesdays this month.

The sixth grade nine weeks reward trips are scheduled on Friday, April 4th, for the north quad students and on Thursday, April 17th, for the south quad students.

Author Lauren Tarshis is meeting with fourth, fifth and sixth grade students on Thursday, April 10th. The fifth-grade and sixth-grade students will have an Escape Room activity in preparation for that presentation.

The eighth-grade students have a meeting with an Upward Bound representative on Friday, April 11th.

The RMS track team has their first home track meet on Thursday, April 17th. The middle school softball team is scheduled to play Lebanon on Wednesday, April 9th, Central on Friday, April 11th, Letcher Central on Wednesday, April 23rd, and Eastside on Wednesday, April 30th.

“I Can” day is presently scheduled for Friday, April 25th.

Schools are closed for Easter Break from Friday, April 18th, through Monday, April 21st. Schools will resume on Tuesday, April 22nd.

A practice lockdown drill is scheduled for this month. More information is attached on this link Lockdown Drill Information.

Reminders:

Before a student can ride home with another student, notes from both students’ parents have to be sent to the office to verify permission.

Calls from parents about bus or student pickup changes need to be made before 2:30 in the afternoon to make sure that the message gets to the children. There is no guarantee that the messages will get to the students if someone calls after that time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 835-1601.

Thank you.
