Dear students, parents and guardians:

Welcome back! Our mission statement at Ridgeview Middle School is Learn today, lead tomorrow. We see our students as the future leaders of our school and our nation, so we are working with them to learn as much as they can while at Ridgeview Middle School so that they will be great leaders in the future. I ask that all of you help support them and us in this mission.

Below are a few of the upcoming events:

A practice lockdown drill is scheduled for later this month.

Our next PTO meeting is Thursday, August 21st , at 5:00. We encourage everyone to attend.

Photogenius will be taking fall pictures of all of the students for the yearbook and for personal purchase. Those pictures are scheduled for Friday, August 22nd . We are pleased that the “Wolfpack After the Bell” program will continue again this year. Students have to re-register this year to participate. Registration forms are available in the office. The first day of the program is Monday, August 25th .

The first home middle school volleyball game is Monday, August 25th , against Eastside.

The seventh grade has a Science field trip scheduled to see the elk at War Fork, Virginia, on Friday, August 29 th . The students will need to complete and return their permission forms by this Friday. There is no cost for this trip.

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 1st , due to the Labor Day holiday. Students will return on Tuesday, September 2nd .

Thanks to everyone who participated in last year’s Food City School Bucks Program. The financial support has been very helpful. We are asking everyone to help us again by going online to https://foodcity.com /SCHOOLBUCKS and choose Ridgeview Middle School, Clintwood, VA.

The program begins Wednesday, September 3rd and goes through Tuesday, May 5 h . Reminder: everyone has to register or reactivate their Food City Value Card every year.

Two reminders:

First, all students coming to watch home middle school, JV or varsity ballgames have to either ride the bus home or be picked up by the parent . Supervision is not provided for students after school, so students are not allowed to stay after school.

Second, due to medical concerns and health risks for students under age 16 who drink energy drinks such as Monster, Rockstar, Red Bull and NOS, and because of disruptions at school that have occurred by students who have consumed those drinks, energy drinks are not allowed at Ridgeview Middle School during the school day.
